Offconsult Project Greenpeace

Greenpeace

Conceptual approach
Multipspace / Desksharing

Greenpeace is an international, independent environmental organization that has been campaigning worldwide for an ecological, social and just present and future since 1971. Greenpeace works in 55 countries to preserve genetic diversity and the climate, to protect forests and oceans and to prevent nuclear and chemical contamination. In summer 2014, Greenpeace Switzerland moved into its new offices in the newly built "Kalkbreite" cooperative in Zurich. Offconsult was able to support Greenpeace from the feasibility study to moving in. The principles of efficiency, expressiveness and quality were central to the interior design and office management throughout the entire process, from planning to implementation. For example, all furniture and materials used, whether new or existing, were checked for their environmental friendliness and LEED certification. With a switch to a non-territorial concept and a very ambitious shared ratio, an efficient floor plan, the reduction of personal files to one locker per employee and the introduction of reference libraries, the space per employee was reduced by 33%. All internal processes were thoroughly examined by Offconsult, resulting in digitization, a paperless work environment and new ways of digital communication. Paper consumption was reduced by more than 80%. In addition to a sophisticated layout with very popular hot desks, a new central hub was introduced. A hub with lockers, service zone, reception and various other amenities for the more than 100 employees. Greenpeace activities and current issues were also integrated as an important part of the office design. Offconsult realized a forward-looking and pioneering office as well as an all-encompassing and sustainable new home for Greenpeace with a very efficient workplace concept.
